“We believe that everyone should own their perfect bike. A bike you can ride all day in comfort and style. We want your bike to reflect who you are.”

Our Philosophy

We advocate helping people save money, stay healthy, and live on a more sustainable planet through the use of human powered tools. Not only are bicycles the most efficient human-powered transportation, once they are manufactured, they have no carbon emissions, they require very little in the way of oil based lubrication, tubes, tires, and parts, as compared to motor driven transportation. With the proper maintenance, they can last for decades.

Silver Birch Cycles is more than a bicycle repair shop. We think this world we live on would be better if we do not over consume, if we create as little waste as possible, if we stay healthy by being active, and if we make the lives of all people on this planet, all of humanity, better. Through education, through stewardship of our natural resources, and through finding the common ground that can unite the 99% of the population. A population that could be the most powerful force for the well being of this planet.

About me

John Dimon is a lifetime cyclist, skier and humanitarian. Growing up in Cortland, NY, John was known to strap skis to his bike and pedal to the North side of nearby pastures to ski the snow that hid in the shadows. Now, he straps skis to his bike and, in October, rides up to the Whiteface Toll Road to ski up from the snow line. Life-blood of Human Power John embodies our philosophy. John cycles both for exercise and to run daily errands. If you see him around town in Saranac Lake, say hi!
